New birds of five species spotted in Nawalpur area

Kathmandu - New birds of five species have been found in Nawalpur area in course of conducting a bird census. The census was carried out inside the Chitwan National Park and in the wetland areas of the Narayani River from January 10 to 14. New water birds of five species were counted in Nawalparasi (Bardaghat-Susta East).

Coordinator of the Water Bird Census in the western sector of the national park, DB Chaudhary said new birds of the species - Lal Thude Hans, Pani Chaha, Chatrang, Kailo Tauke Hans and Malchari – were found for the first time in the western sector of the park this time.

He also shared that water bird of 46 various species have been counted on the distributaries and the wetland areas of the Narayani River in the western sector. He added that the number of cormorants has also increased in this sector. According to him, 2817 cormorants were counted in this sector alone.
