Health facility handover process begins

Baitadi - District Health Office, Baitadi has initiated a process to transfer the health facilities of the district to the local governments. 

The District Health Office is set to hand over the health post, primary health centre, urban health centre, community health unit and birthing centre to the local governments as per the directive of the Federalism Implementation Unit. 

Issuing a circular to all the health facilities, the District Health Office has directed them to furnish details of movable and immovable properties including land and medical equipments soon. 

Likewise, the heath facilities were also instructed to provide details of all employees including permanent, temporary and contractual. The health facilities operated under the purview of District Health Office now will be run under rural municipality and municipality. 

Now the task of details collection is being carried out and remaining process of handover will move ahead after the elections to the House of Representatives and State Assemblies, informed District Health Office, Baitadi, Chief Dr Gunaraj Abasthi. 

591 health facilities to be handed over 

Along the District Hospital, some 591 health facilities will be handed over to local governments in Baitadi district. There is a district hospital in district headquarters and a primary health centre each in Patan municipality and Melauli municipality. 

Likewise, there are 65 health posts in different areas. According to the District Health Office, there are community health units in five areas of the district. 

Similarly, there are six town health centres and 59 separate birthing centres in the district. Some 222 village clinics and 232 vaccination clinics are in operation. 

As many as 831 health volunteers will also work under the purview of local level. A total of 300 health workers of different types are in service in Baitadi district.
