Domestic tourists make most out of Dashain break visiting Manang

Manang - The number of domestic tourists visiting the trans-Himalayan district, Manang, has increased this Dashain. 

The mountainous district was full of domestic tourists during the Dashain festival, the biggest festival of the Nepalis. 

Daily 100 to 200 domestic tourists have been entering the district coinciding the Dashain holiday. 

Last year 8,000 domestic tourists visited Manang and the number of visitors has reached around 7,000 in 15 days Dashain period this year, according to Babulal Tiruwa, the chief of the Annapurna Conservation Area Project. 

It has been found that some domestic visitors have come here with their family members even from Besisahar, the headquarters of Lamjung district, reserving car for as much as Rs 40 thousand. 

Domestic tourists mostly visit Manang to enjoy the natural scenery, the sight of the Himalayan mountain range, waterfalls, glacial lakes and especially the Tilicho lake, which is located at the highest elevation in the world. 

The visitors have to book hotel rooms in advance due to the high number of tourists. Tourists visiting the Tilicho base camp are facing problem of accommodation as there are only three lodges there.
