Month-long festival kicks off at Adinath Temple
Kathmandu - A month-long festival has kicked off at the Adinath Temple based in the southern part of Kathmandu.
The festival beginning on the full moon in the month of Asoj as per the lunar calendar every year will go on the whole next one month. Devotees from the Kathmandu Valley and its adjoining areas throng the temple to observe the festival.
It is believed that one would get good health, family happiness and prosperity by observing this festival.
The Hindu god Adinath is worshipped as the combined manifestation of half female and half male.
According to temple priest Saroj Shakya, a festival is organised every year here in the temple on the day of the Chaite Dashain, the second Dashain of the Hindus which is celebrated in the month of Chaita in the Nepali calendar well. The Department of Archeology earlier carried out renovation of the temple.
