Congress and UML's 'disease' has spread to Maoists: Prachanda

Butwal, March 12 — Former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has stated that the disease affecting the Nepali Congress and CPN (UML) has also spread to the Maoist party.

Addressing the General Convention of the Magar National Liberation Front in Butwal on Wednesday, he explained that he has gone to the people to address the issues within the party.

Prachanda pointed out that while forming alliances with Congress and UML, some of their issues began to influence the Maoist party.

"The Maoist party weakened when we abandoned the people’s agenda," he said.

Prachanda emphasized that the party recently held a serious review in the Central Committee meeting to address this issue and concluded that this "disease" cannot be treated by any doctor in a hospital but through direct engagement with the working-class people.

He added, "We are now focusing on the Postal Highway to reach the people."

Prachanda also criticized the current government, accusing it of protecting corrupt individuals within the party.

He further claimed that regressive forces are once again visible on the streets of Kathmandu, and therefore, he had to temporarily suspend his awareness campaign.
