Kathmandu - Rishing Rural Municipality of Tanahu has provided motivational money to the best performing farmers. The farmers from Ward No 8 of the Rural Municipality were provided the monetary incentive for their significant contribution to the agriculture. Chief Administrative Officer Chandika Poudel informed that two goat farmers were provided Rs 13,000 each while two pig farmers got Rs 11,000 each, a fisher farmer and poultry farmer got Rs 5,000 each.

"The motivational amount was provided as an award for their contribution to agriculture," he said, adding that it would encourage them to be further active in agriculture. He further shared that the Rural Municipality had decided to confer the award on best performing farmers from across all wards. There is a work procedure to select the best farmers and award them, Poudel informed. The scheme is however of the last fiscal year. It was hampered due to the COVID-19 crisis.

Earlier, the Rural Municipality had distributed the grant amount of Rs 20,000 each to 20 farmers. Rising Rural Municipality Chair Rajendra Krishna Shrestha viewed that they had a goal to make their villages prosperous in agriculture, for which, farmers were encouraged with grants and awards. The grant scheme was introduced to promote agriculture by retaining youths in this sector. This scheme, the Chair believed, would help make the villages self reliant.
