Jorpati-Sundarijal road to be repaired by mid-December

Kathmandu - The Jorpati-Sundarijal road is to be repaired until mid-December this year. The road which is being widened will be blacktopped in its available width.

Although efforts were made since long to expand and blacktop the road on the 22 metres width which is the set standard, this could not be possible due to resistance by some locals, the Kathmandu Valley Road Expansion Project said.

The Project stated that the road will be asphalted on 12 metres width at some locations and up to 20 metres width at some places while blacktopping it in its present width.

Project chief Guru Adhikari said they had decided some time back to blacktop the roads in the Kathmandu Valley which are currently under expansion phase to be blacktopped in their existing width.

The Project was making the necessary preparations for widening the Jorpati-Sundarijal road even during the lockdown. In this connection, it had cut down 67 trees on the side of the road.

Locals and commuters are facing problem as the road that was dug in course of the widening works has been left unrepaired. It has turned muddy and full ditches amidst the monsoon rain.
