Two killed in separate road accidents

Kathmandu - A pedestrian was killed when a vehicle knocked him down at Khahare of Bharatpur Metropolitan City-29 in the wee hours today. The District Police Office Chitwan confirmed the death of the person of around 25 years on the spot in the mishap that occurred at 3.30 am today. The name and address of the deceased is not ascertained yet. The body is kept at Bharatpur Hospital for post-mortem examination and a hunt is on for tracking down the vehicle that hit the person.

Meanwhile, the dead body of a person has been found dumped in a bush at the open space near Chitwan Secondary School of Bharatpur Metropolitan City -10 on Tuesday. The body was kept inside a gunny sack. Police identified the body was that of 41-year-old Raj Kumar Gurung of Bharatpur metropolis-14.

It is said Gurung, who eked out his living by selling fish and goods on push cart in Bharatpur area, had gone missing since the last four days. Police have begun investigation on suspicion that Gurung might have been murdered. Similarly, a person died in a road accident at Khatripauwa, Dhunibensi municipality-9 in Dhading district this morning.

Police identified the deceased as 30-year-old Mahesh Shrestha of Nagarjun municipality-3, Kathmandu. He was knocked down by a tipper (Ba 4 Kha 3104) and died instantaneously, the District Police Office Dhading said. The driver of the vehicle is absconding after the incident and police have impounded the vehicle.
