Parliamentary committee passes bill on federal interrelations

The House of Representatives, State Affairs and Good Governance Committee has passed a bill providing for systematisation of the interrelations among the federal, province and local levels. The committee passed the bill on Monday after making necessary revisions and amendments. Committee member Lalbabu Pandit said the committee passed the bill along with the report including the suggestions received from the National Assembly, the upper house of the Federal Parliament. The bill defines the relations among the federal, provincial and local levels, allocation of works and how to address the process of resolving the disputes among and between the three levels. The bill had originated in the National Assembly first. The government had brought this bill with the objective of formulating necessary laws for managing the basis of mutual cooperation, collaboration, coordination the interrelations among the federal, province an local levels exercising the state powers as per the constitution for the consolidation of the federal democratic republic system of government. Although the powers and jurisdictions of the federal, provincial and local level governments are specified in the constitution, the bill incorporates legal provisions regarding several topics not specified in the constitution the jurisdictions of which would be exercised by the three level governments on the basis of co-existence and coordination.
