NC to draw government’s attention

Kathmandu - The main opposition Nepali Congress is to organize programmes at home and abroad at the same time on June 16 to draw attention of the government regarding the situation surfaced due to coronavirus infection. Chief Secretary of Nepali Congress Krishna Prasad Poudel said that attention of the Prime Minister would be drawn on the initiatives to be taken immediately from the government to prevent and control coronavirus pandemic, to lessen short-term and long-term impacts of the pandemic and to address people’s concerns.

The party’s Federal Parliamentary Party would draw attention of the Prime Minister while the state assemblies’ parliamentary party will meet the chief ministers over the issues. Similarly, district working committee of all 77 districts would organize events and submit memo to the Prime Minister through chief district officers and the party’s Liaison Committees abroad would do their jobs through Nepali Embassies.

The NC has stated that the PCR test is too slow, quarantine facilities were constructed without meeting the set standards and quarantine facilities have instead spread the coronavirus infection, and the workers and people from poor economic background were facing problems for lack of food. The NC has claimed that the government has become failure to bring any programme to provide relief programmes and revive the agriculture, tourism and industry sectors. Meanwhile, a delegation under the leadership of NC senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister on Wednesday as per party’s decision.
