Bamdev Gautam set to rejoin UML

Kathmandu, January 19 — Leader Bamdev Gautam is preparing to return to the CPN (UML).

After his efforts to unite with the CPN (Unified Socialist) failed and the chapter of unity talks was closed, Gautam is now set to rejoin the UML.

D.B. Karki, the General Secretary of the CPN Unity Campaign led by Bamdev Gautam, has confirmed that the entire campaign will merge with the CPN (UML).

"The discussions were already ongoing, and today, after a telephone conversation between the two chairpersons (KP Oli and Bamdev Gautam), it was decided to unite with UML. Formal unification will take place within a day or two," Karki told Ratopati.

Gautam, after closing the chapter of unity talks with the Unified Socialist Party, stated, "The talks with Unified Socialist have ended. Now, we are moving forward with uniting with UML."

Karki also mentioned that during the conversation between the two leaders, they agreed to move forward based on UML's principles and ideology. Gautam is expected to be given a position as either a senior leader or a patron within the party.

"Chairman Oli has agreed to make arrangements for Gautam as either a senior leader or a patron. Other leaders and activists of the campaign will be managed after consulting with them," Karki said.

Meanwhile, some leaders from Gautam's campaign have announced their departure.

On Sunday, Vice Chairman Mahendra Aryal and several others officially declared they were leaving Gautam’s group.

Aryal, the campaign’s Lumbini Province in-charge, along with Karnali Province in-charge Dilli Raj Bhattarai, Koshi Province in-charge Indra Subba, and Madhes Province in-charge Hari Kafle, held a press conference at Reporters Club Nepal to make their announcement.
