Former DIG Chabilal Joshi's remand extended

Kathmandu, January 19 — The remand hearing of former DIG Chabilal Joshi was postponed due to an incomplete debate on his bail application.

Joshi appeared before the Kathmandu District Court on Sunday in connection with a case involving the embezzlement of funds from Swarnalaxmi Cooperative.

His statement has been recorded, but due to the incomplete bail hearing, Judge Thakur Prasad Kharel ordered Joshi to be remanded in police custody. Investigations revealed that Joshi had taken a loan of NPR 1.3 million from Swarnalaxmi Multipurpose Cooperative under his name.

A police officer informed Ratopati that Joshi will remain in custody at the Kathmandu District Police Range, Bhadrakali until the remand hearing is completed.
