CIAA files case against land revenue officer

Kathmandu - The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a case against land revenue officer Badri Raj Dhakal at the Special Court on the charge of embezzling over Rs 102 million. The anti-graft constitutional body said that Dhakal was found to have amassed Rs 102 million 758 thousand 461 disproportionate to his income.

He had also purchased a car in the name of a woman who is related to him and deposited some amount of his unauthorised income in the name of one Nawaraj Aryal. Aryal is Dhakal's brother-in-law who lives in Australia. According to CIAA, Dhakal is found to have invested and spent Rs 145 million 382 thousand 498.

Out of this amount, CIAA investigation revealed that Rs 102 million 758 thousand 461 was illegal. Dhakal had joined the government service as a junior officer at the Land Revenue Office, Lamjung in 2054 BS. He got permanent appointment in the civil service in 2055 BS and has been working as a Section Officer at Lagankhel Lalitpur. CIAA has also filed cases at the Special Court against Dhakal's wife Srijana Aryal and brother-in-law Nawaraj Aryal.
