Banke road accident: all injured identified

Kathmandu - All the people injured in the bus accident at Thuriya jungle of Rapti Sonari rural municipality-2 in Banke on late Sunday midnight have been identified. However, the identities of 12 killed in the accident are yet to be ascertained. The bus was carrying people returning home from India. Many injured are from Salyan district. They are Tika Chalaune, 29, of Sharada municipality-6, Kajeri; Minraj BK, 20, and Deep Bahadur Budha, 52 of Bangad Kupinde municipality-6, Ghajari. Dhan Bahadur Bohara, 18, and Nim Bahadur Oli, 26, of Chhapdanda of Siddha Kumakh rural municipality-5; Tej Bahadur Budhathoki, 40, Gyan Bahadur Bohara, 17, and Devendra Khadka, 18, of Daha, Siddha Kumakh follow the list of the injured.

Others injured from Salyan are Lokesh Gharti, 28, and Shiva Bhandari, 26 of Siddha Kumakh-4, Chade. Similarly, Megha Raj KC, 45 of Ghorahi sub-metropolis-5 in Dang, Deepesh Chaudhary, 20, of Rajpur rural municipality-6, Gramikhola; Jeevan Gharti of Rajpur municipality-2, Rainiya; Bharat Thapa, 20, of Gadhawa rural municipality-6, Bhanpur; Bishnu Giri, 39, and Ruplal KC, 23 of Tulasipur sub-metropolis-2, Khairikot have sustained injuries in the accident. Likewise, Sunil Pariyar, 17, Birendra Pariyar, 20 and Puran Pariyar, 18, of Tribeni rural municipality-17 of Rolpa; Dil Bahadur BK, 40 of Tutu and Nar Bahadur BK, 52, of Kureli, Duikholi rural municipality have been injured in the accident.

A Hiace bus carrying returnees rammed into a stationary truck (Ba 4 Kha 9064) at around 12.00 on Sunday night resulting fatal deaths of many lives. The bus (Na 5 Kha5995) was heading towards Salyan from Nepalgunj. As said by District Police Office, Banke's police inspector Hrideyesh Sapkota, the dead are yet to be identified. Collections of throat swab samples of the dead and injured have already begun for the coronavirus test.

As said by Bheri Hospital's officiating medical superintendent Dr Prakash Bahadur Thapa, the risk of coronavirus infections among the dead and injured cannot be ignored as they all were the returnees from India. The process for last rites of the dead will be determined being based on the test reports. In case of negative result, the body will be handed to the family, but in positive case, it will be managed by the authority concerned.
