Government urged to manage quarantines as per WHO standard

Kathmandu - The Law, Justice and Human Rights Committee of the House of Representatives has urged the government to properly manage the quarantine facilities as per the World Health Organization (WHO) standard. A meeting of the committee chaired by its president Krishna Bhakta Pokharel on Monday decided to request the Ministry of Health and Population to arrange for the proper management of food, health, hygiene and safety of people kept in quarantine facilities.

It also decided to draw the attention of the Ministry of Home Affairs to the need of presenting the amendment bill for amending the Social Security Act 2075 BS in the current session of the Federal Parliament in order to give continuity to the social security allowances being distributed to the helpless, single women and people with disabilities.

It also decided to direct the Ministry to forward the process of action against culprits of incidents related to racial discrimination, untouchability, rape and murder that have occurred during the lockdown enforced to prevent the spread of coronavirus pandemic. Likewise, the committee decided to call attention of the Ministry of Health and Population to make arrangements for expanding the real time polymerase chain reaction(PCR) tests for COVID-19 to the community level.
