Parliamentary committee condemns Indian army chief’s remarks on border issue

Kathmandu - The meeting of the International Relations and Labour Committee under the House of Representatives (HoR) on Sunday condemned the recent remarks of Indian Army Chief Manoj Mukunda Narvane on the border issue. The meeting has stated that the government of India made him to come with such threading remarks on bilateral issues. The Indian Army chief had stated that some forces had provoked Nepal to protest the Indian move of constructing link road to Manasarobar, Tibet, an autonomous region of China.

The committee member Dr Bhim Rawal argued that Nepal government should officially condemn the remarks and urged to take move to return Indian security forces from Nepali territory. Similarly, another member of the Committee Surendra Kumar Karki opined that Nepal should immediately issue a new political map including Limpiyadhura, Lipulek and Kalapani areas. He said government failed to prepare new map even in six month.

He however praised the latest move of government to establish a security beat in the area inside 12 kilometers to Nepal from the disputed territory. The Committee member Deepak Prakash Bhatta argued that Indian army chief’s remark was a threat therefore it should be condemned by Nepal government soon. He also opined to take immediate move to resolve the issue via diplomatic channel.
