Swab collection from 624 persons in State 2 on Saturday

Kathmandu - Throat swab samples of 624 suspected people was collected from various districts in State 2 in a single day on Saturday, according to the State Health Directorate, Janakpurdham. The Health Service Department, Nepalese Army, Armed Police Force and human resources under the state directorate helped the collection.

With this, swabs of the total 1,290 suspected people have been collected so far in the State and 12 infection cases including three Indian nationals and one each from Sarlahi and Rautahat districts have been found, said the directorate.

Of the swabs tested through polymerase chain reaction, 636 were tested negative. Swabs of 4,448 suspected people in the State were tested through rapid diagnostic test, said Bijaya Kumar Jha, senior health officer of the directorate.

A total of 1,470 suspected people have been quarantined and 1,639 home-quarantined under the surveillance of health workers in the State, he said. The health institutions in the state have 227 isolation wards.
