News festival discusses future of journalism, its challenges

Butwal– A News Festival has been organized in Lumbini to dwell on how journalism should be in federalism. The festival continues for three days. Area experts, editors and reporters will discuss thoroughly on various topics, said chairperson of Lumbini Press Club, Dipes Pachhai. The Club is the organizer of the event.

The morning session of the event discussed challenges facing Nepali journalism. Editors from 300 major media from across the country and media persons from all districts of State 5 have gathered in Lumbini, said coordinator Dipendra Baduwal.

Former chairpersons of the Federation of Nepali Journalists, Kishor Nepal and Shiva Gaunle, investigative journalist Mohan Mainali, Bureau Chief of Nagarik daily in State-5, Rekha Bhushal and chairperson of Press Council Nepal, Kishor Shrestha spoke in the first session. The festival will have topic-wise presentation from central chairperson of FNJ, Govinda Acharya, former FNJ chairpersons, Chairperson of National News Agency (RSS), Harihar Adhikari 'Shyamal' and others.

It is believed that the event would help boost the Visit Lumbini Year 2076 and the Visit Nepal 2020.
