Opposition Party Demands Explanation on Foreign Minister's Statement Regarding Historical Burden

Kathmandu. Opposition party CPN-UML has demanded an explanation regarding the statement made by Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal during his India visit, saying 'we cannot carry the burden of the past'. In the special time of the House of Representatives meeting, Deputy Leader of CPN-UML Parliamentary Party, Padma Aryal, demanded an explanation for the statement made by Foreign Minister Khanal during his India visit.

'It has come to light that the Foreign Minister stated during his India visit, while meeting with his Indian counterpart, that he cannot carry the burden of history,' said Aryal. 'It is like a tiger roaring on one side and a goat getting lost on the other. We want an explanation of what subject the Foreign Minister meant when he said we cannot carry the burden of the past.'

Aryal also questioned whether the Foreign Minister meant that Nepal cannot carry its claim over lands including Kalapani and Lipulek.
