Rainfall with hailstorm destroy ready-to-harvest crops

Martadi–Heavy rainfall with hailstorm has caused damages to ready-to-harvest crops, vegetables and fruits at Badimalika municipality-1 in Bajura district.

According to Harka Bahadur Karki, a local farmer, the hailstorm occurred at around 4.00 pm Monday had ruined millet, rice, orange, banana and vegetable farming.

He further informed that the rainfall with hailstone had caused total damages to ready-to-harvest crops, fruits and vegetables of around 1,100 farmers.

Municipality deputy mayor Kavita Bista said the relief package would be announced once the objective details of the rain-triggered losses are collected.

The municipality had instituted a natural disaster relief fund to render relief to the people who are hit hard by such erratic events.
