Fugitive charged with polygamy arrested after seven years

Melamchi - Authorities on Tuesday arrested a fugitive charged with polygamy after seven years on the run from the Melamchi Bazaar here in Sindhupalchowk district. 

The District Court, Chautara on January, 25, 2011 had sentenced Chandra Bahadur Jyoti, 28, of Ichowk of Helambu rural municipality – 6 to 11 months and 15 days in prison and slapped a fine of Rs 5,500. 

Jyoti had been on the run ever since. He will be presented before the District Court before being sent to the prison to serve out his term, according to Inspector, Navaraj Dhungana, of Area Police Office, Melamchi. 

The Area Police Office, Melamchi has been successful in arresting more than a dozen fugitives in recent time.
