64 families displaced due to flood

Rajha–Sixty four families have been displaced due to inundation caused by rainfall in Khajura rural municipality of Banke district.

Two hundred and fifty three persons of 64 families were displaced after their houses were inundated following heavy rain three days back.

Rural municipality vice-chairperson Ek Maya BK said the rural municipality has made arrangement for tents and food for the displaced families.

These many families from ward number 7 and 8 of the rural municipality have been rendered homeless and been compelled to live on the roadside after their houses became waterlogged, said a local Maya Ram Pasi. He said they have been living in tents on the side of the road.

The Nepal National Basic School at Khajura rural municipality-7 has also been inundated halting the classes.

The inundation is caused by the swollen Mankhola river as it lacks embankment. Likewise, 200 families at Gaughat, Puraini, Udharapur and Sindure among other places in the rural municipality have been displaced following the incessant rain, rural municipality vice-chair BK said.

Among the displaced families, some have been kept at Janasewa Secondary School and Nepal Basic School, Sindure and the rest of the families have been staying at their relatives' houses. Life has returned to normalcy to some extent after the rain stopped.

The displaced families have gradually started living in their houses.
