Heavy Rainfall in Kathmandu and Other Districts Due to Weather Change

Kathmandu. With the change in weather in the last few days, heavy rainfall has occurred in Kathmandu and various other districts today. According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, heavy rainfall has occurred in the vicinity of certain rainfall measurement centers. As per the records of the measurement center at 8:30 PM tonight, heavy rainfall has occurred in Kathmandu, Jhapa, Morang, Tanahu, Dang, and Surkhet. In the Kopan area of Kathmandu, 51.8 millimeters of rainfall has been recorded in the last 24 hours. The highest rainfall was recorded in Bahundangi, Jhapa, with 77.4 millimeters. Similarly, 53.2 millimeters of rainfall occurred in Tanahu, 48.2 in Dang, and 52.8 millimeters in Surkhet. Heavy rainfall has occurred in all these areas. Due to the cloudy weather and rainfall in various places, the temperature across the country has also decreased today, said Dinkar Kayastha, information officer at the department. According to him, the temperature in the Terai is below 39 degrees today, while it is 21 degrees in Kathmandu. According to the weather bulletin issued by the department this evening, the weather has changed due to the influence of the western low-pressure trough in the upper atmosphere and local winds currently present in Nepal. On Thursday, the weather will generally be cloudy across the country, with moderate rainfall expected in some parts of the hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, and in the Terai regions of Madhesh Province and parts of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces until noon. Similarly, there is a possibility of moderate rainfall with thunderstorms in a few places in the hilly regions of Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces, and in one or two places in the Terai regions of Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces. Senior meteorologist Varun Paudel informed that Nepal is on the verge of monsoon entry and that the monsoon may enter within the next few days. It is estimated that this year's monsoon will have below-average rainfall and higher temperatures.
