Court hands 12-year jail sentence on a gang rape case

Lamahi–The Dang-Deukhuri District Court Dang has sentenced two sex offenders to twelve years in jail each on a rape case.

A single bench of district court judge Hemanta Rawal handed 12 years jail sentence each to Indra Bahadur Thapa, 27, of Tulsipur sub-metropolis-3 and Guru Prasad Pun (Thamman), 31, of the same place.

The court sent them to jail for gang-raping a 14-year girl and each is also slapped to provide Rs 50,000 to the girl in compensation.

Both the accused had been in the run since the vary day the girl was raped five years ago. Police had arrested them after two and half years of the incident and registered a rape case at the district court.

Likewise, the district court has given a clean chit to Rishiraj Acharya of Ghorahi sub-metropolis-15 on a rape case. A single bench of judge Hari Prasad Sharma Upadhyay handed Acharya the clean chit in the case.

Acharya was remanded in the case of sexual offense against a girl who was kept at his home for household chores. Police had arrested Acahrya acting on a case against him for frequently raping the girl.
