Nepali Congress and CPN (Maoist Center) begin collecting signatures of lawmakers

KATHMANDU, Dec 25: The ruling Nepali Congress and the CPN (Maoist Center) has begun collecting signatures of the lawmakers to form a new government after the ruling alliance so far failed to reach an agreement to form a coalition government.
The Nepali Congress  has 89 lawmakers in the federal parliament while the CPN (Maoist Center) has 32 lawmakers.
The meeting of the ruling alliance is now in limbo as Sher Bahadur Deuba, President of Nepali Congress and Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Chairman of Maoist Center began to collect signatures of the lawmakers to claim the formation of new government.
According to Narayan Kaji Shrestha, a senior leader of CPN (Maoist Center),  earlier the meeting was scheduled for Saturday but the meeting is unlikely to be held today.
The ruling alliance has failed to reach an agreement to form a new government and share the power so far. CPN (Maoist Center) wants to lead the new government as per the agreement earlier made with its alliance while the Nepali Congress is not in the mood to back up after being established as the largest party in the parliament.
