UML, Loktantrik Samajbadi forge electoral alliance in Birgunj: Sarawagi nominated for post of mayor, Jha for deputy mayor

KATHMANDU, April 20: The main opposition party, CPN-UML, and Loktantrik Samajbadi Party forged an electoral alliance in Birgunj Metropolitan City for the upcoming local level polls.

The parties have agreed to field Bijay Kumar Sarawagi, UML leader, as a candidate for the post of Mayor and Purushottam Lal Jha, Loktantrik Samajbadi Party leader, as a candidate for deputy mayor in Birgunj Metropolitan City in the upcoming local level polls scheduled for May 13.

 Sarawagi is the current mayor of the metropolis. He had recently joined CPN-UML.

Similarly, the ruling alliance has agreed to field a candidate of CPN (Unified Socialist) as their common candidate for the post of Mayor in Birgunj metropolis. Likewise, the Nepali Congress has been given the opportunity to field its candidate for the post of deputy mayor in the metropolis representing the ruling alliance.
