Vaccination drive for 3.4 mln children begins, 69 percent of total population fully vaccinated: Minister Khatiwada's 100 days
KATHMANDU, Feb 11: Health Minister Birodh Khatiwada on Friday made public his 100 achievements.
Khatiwada was appointed as the Minister for Health and Population on October 8 last year.
The government headed by Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has made the COVID-19 vaccination drive its main priority. According to which, the government has begun vaccinating as many as 3.4 million children aged between 12 to 17 against the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19). Besides, the government is firm on administering COVID-19 vaccines to all pregnant women and others with weak immunity. Likewise, the Ministry has also secured deals with vaccination manufacture companies and donor agencies to administer COVID-19 vaccine to minors aged between 5 to 11.
According to the Ministry, the government has already fulfilled its aim to fully vaccinate one-third of the population by Aswin, 2078 ( September/October, 2021) and have provided first dose of the vaccines to 77 percent of targeted population aged over 12 and 69 percent of the total population has been fully vaccinated as of January 26, 2022.
Similarly, the government has set a target to fully vaccinate the eligible population by mid May, 2022 and required vaccines have already been secured, according to the MoHP.
So far Nepal has received 46,470,720 doses of COVID-19 vaccines. Of them, 34,825,601 doses have been administered.
