CJ Rana accused of mobilizing ‘paid forces’ to suppress NBA’s protest, around 50 arrested

KATHMANDU, November 14: Chief Justice (CJ) Cholendra Shumsher JB Rana has been accused of hiring ‘external forces’ to suppress the protest of Nepal Bar Association (NBA).

Addressing the protest, Chandeshwor Shrestha, the Chairman of the NBA accused CJ Rana of mobilizing illegally amassed money to suppress the protest staged against him at the Supreme Court on Sunday. 

Similarly, Ishwari Prasad Bhattarai, the Vice-Chairman of the NBA, also stated that CJ Rana has been paying Rs 2,000 each daily to individuals to suppress the protest of the association.

Meanwhile, the police have arrested around 50 individuals protesting against the NBA. This group took to the streets supporting CJ Rana on Sunday. 

It has been learnt that a security personnel and some other people have sustained injuries in a clash. 

The NBA has been staging sit-in protests at the Supreme Court barring CJ Rana from entering the court demanding his resignation. However, CJ Rana has been entering the court through alternative ways.
