Four die, 49 injured in Daunne bus accident
DAUNNE May 19: At least four people have died and 49 others have sustained injuries when a passenger bus met with an accident at Daunne in Nawalparasi (West) along the East West Highway on Wednesday morning.
The ill-fated passenger bus (Na 5 Kha 2713), which was bound to Rukum (West) from Kathmandu with a total of 58 passengers, skidded off the road nearby Banskhola at the Bardaghat-Daunne road section at around 5:30 AM on Wednesday.
According to the District Police Office, of the four passengers who died on the spot, two have been identified. Two others are yet to be identified. Deceased have been identified as Kalapan Pun, 27, of Tribeni, Rukum (West) and Dhanraj Gharti, 46, of Sisne-4, Rukum (East), said DSP Raju Lama.
Passengers with critical injuries were sent to Butwal for further treatment while others are undergoing treatment at a local hospital, police said.
