CM Gurung stresses on optimum utilistion of culture for prosperity

Galkot–Chief Minister of Gandaki State, Prithvi Subba Gurung has stressed the need to tap cultural assets of the country for tourism promotion.

"Proper utilisation of culture would help sustain our livelihood and prosperity. We are not in a situation to beg to eke out our livelihood if the cultural heritages are properly utilised", he said.

The Chief Minister said this while inaugurating the 33rd anniversary, 2563rd Buddha Jayanti and Baisakhe Full Moon Day organised by Ghumte Cultural and Natural Protection Forum Galkot Municipality-10 Pandabkhani.

Gurung further noted that the State government has set a target to construct motorable and suspension bridges in all needy areas of the State within coming five years.

It was a serious thing for the resource and culture-rich country to rely on foreign aid, he said, underlining the need of exploring mines including copper and iron for economic transformation.

It is skill proficiency certificate rather than the educational one which helps the campaign to alleviate poverty, he asserted, adding the need to transform the education into technical education for poverty reduction.

He also said that the Gandaki State would gain prosperity through tourism promotion. "The Kaligandaki Corridor and Mid-Hill Highway would contribute much to the economic development of the State", the minister expressed confidence at the programme. ---
