Continuous Rainfall Causes 58 Incidents Nationwide, 3 Deaths Reported

Kathmandu. Continuous rainfall has been occurring in various districts since the evening of Shrawan 2. Due to the rainfall, 58 incidents have occurred across the country. Local administrations have adopted precautions in risky areas, citing the risk of floods and landslides.

The police headquarters stated that 3 people died in 58 disaster incidents that occurred in the last 24 hours. Due to floods, Shanta Rai, 43, of Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality-6, Khotang, and Parshuram Pariyar, 71, of Kopilasgadhi Rural Municipality-4, lost their lives.

Police Spokesperson (DIG) Abinarayan Kafle told Ratopati that Bhaktabahadur Thami, 55, died of snakebite in Dokthali, Bhimeshwor Municipality-2, Dolakha.

In the last 24-hour period, the police rescued 1 person affected by disaster. 13 people were injured. The police estimate an economic loss of 2.366 million due to continuous rain, fire, lightning, floods, and landslides.

Since Baisakh 1, 2083, 168 people have died due to disasters. In a period of three months, 994 people were injured. 2 people are still missing. A total of 3,463 disaster incidents occurred across the country during that period. The police headquarters stated that 1,015 livestock died due to disasters.
