Explosion at Qatar Gas Facility Kills 13, Including 12 Indians

Doha. At least 13 people have died in an explosion at Qatar's massive gas processing center Ras Laffan LNG Hub, including 12 Indian citizens. Qatari officials have stated that the incident was an industrial accident and not related to any military or conflict reasons.

According to the Ministry of Interior of Qatar, the explosion that occurred on Sunday was due to a technical malfunction during operation. 66 people were injured in the incident.

In a statement released by the Indian Embassy in Doha, it confirmed the deaths of 12 Indian citizens in the explosion and stated that the process of sending their bodies back to their home country has been initiated. Qatari authorities have begun a detailed investigation into the incident. The Ras Laffan LNG center is considered the world's largest liquefied natural gas (LNG) production and export center.

Last year, during the war between the US-Israel and Iran, this center was targeted by an Iranian missile attack. It was reported at that time that the structure suffered significant damage. There are more than eight hundred thousand Indian citizens in Qatar.
