British Prime Minister Keir Starmer Announces Resignation

Kathmandu. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced his resignation from his post on Monday. Before announcing his resignation, he met with British King Charles on Monday morning and formally informed him of his decision. 

Along with the announcement of his resignation, Starmer has also initiated the necessary process for the election of a new leader of the Labour Party. He has urged the party's National Executive Committee (NEC) to set a schedule for selecting a new leader.

According to this, nominations for leadership will open from July 9. The Labour Party aims to complete all election processes before the parliamentary summer recess.

According to this schedule, the Labour Party will get a new leader and the country will get a new Prime Minister before the next session of the British Parliament begins in September. 

Starmer will remain in the post of Prime Minister until a new successor is elected. He has clarified that he will remain in charge until a new leader is selected in order to make the leadership transition process systematic and smooth.
