Court orders Rabi Lamichhane’s release on bail

Kathmandu, January 15 — The Kathmandu District Court has ordered the release of Rabi Lamichhane, the suspended president of the Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RSP), on a bail of 6 million rupees in connection with the Swarnalakshmi Multipurpose Cooperative fraud case.

The order was issued by Judge Madhav Adhikari after the hearing on Lamichhane's remand. With this ruling, Lamichhane will now be allowed to remain outside custody while the case proceeds.

On Wednesday, senior advocates Sushil Panta and Raman Shrestha represented Lamichhane in court, supported by Suraj Basnet and Rajendra Prasad Sedhain.

Following their arguments, the district government attorney's office, led by Chief Attorney Ramhari Sharma Kafle, along with Deputy Attorney Khadindra Raj Katuwal and Assistant Attorney Ganesh Kumar Sharma, responded to the defense.

In addition, senior advocates Surendra Bhandari and Dinesh Tripathi argued on behalf of the victims during the proceedings. Lamichhane also took the opportunity to present his own statement, speaking for about a minute.
