Local level by-election: Nomination papers submitted enthusiastically
Kathmandu, November 17 — The nomination papers for candidates in the local level by-election to be held on December 1 were submitted at the respective election officer’s office from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Sunday, as confirmed by the Election Commission.
According to the Commission, two female candidates have filed nomination papers for the post of Chief of the Kailali District Coordination Committee, and one male candidate has filed for the post of Chief of the Okhaldhunga District Coordination Committee.
Similarly, for the vacant 8 posts of Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson in rural municipalities and Mayor and Deputy Mayor in municipalities, a total of 84 candidates have filed their nominations: 35 women, 48 men, and 1 from another category. This was mentioned in the press release issued by the Commission on Sunday night.
Additionally, for the 34 vacant posts of Ward Chairperson in rural municipalities and municipalities, a total of 323 candidates have filed their nomination papers: 29 women, 293 men, and 1 from another category.
Among the submitted nomination papers, the highest number of candidates – 21 – have filed for the position of Ward Chairperson in Ward No. 1 of Dhanushadham Municipality in Dhanusha. On the other hand, the lowest number of candidates – 3 each – have filed for the position of Ward Chairperson in Ward No. 2 of Putha Uttarganga Rural Municipality in Rukum East and Ward No. 4 of Surma Rural Municipality in Bajhang District.
