Shiva Sharan Maharjan files candidacy for Kirtipur mayor

Kathmandu, November 17 — The CPN (Maoist Centre) has registered its candidacy for the mayoral position of Kirtipur Municipality. On Sunday, Shiva Sharan Maharjan of the Maoist Centre registered his nomination at the municipality office.

Similarly, for Ward 4 of the municipality, Narayan Bista from the Maoist Centre has registered his candidacy for the chairmanship, and for Ward 1, Saral Gopal Maharjan has registered his nomination.

In the upcoming local elections on December 1, the Maoist Centre has received support from the Unified Socialist Party and the Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) for the Kirtipur Municipality.

After registering his nomination, Maoist candidate Maharjan stated that his goal is to establish good governance and control corruption. He also pledged to work for the all-around development of Kirtipur if elected.

Maharjan further said, “I will work to expand networking for tourism development in Kirtipur and push for the construction of a road connecting the dry port and Hetauda.” He also expressed that his support has been growing as he has the backing of the Socialist Party.
