The NPP's leader, Anura Kumar Dissanayake, also won the presidential election held about two months ago (September 21, 2024).

The CPN-UML further stated, "The NPP's victory in the recent parliamentary elections will contribute to political stability, economic reforms, social justice, and increased self-reliance in Sri Lanka."

The CPN-UML expressed confidence that the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) and its newly formed NPP coalition, led by President Anura Kumar Dissanayake, would succeed.

Additionally, CPN-UML extended its best wishes for Sri Lanka to successfully implement the option chosen by the people during the crisis and hoped that Sri Lanka could set an exemplary model for the world.
