One dead, two injured in Panchthar truck accident

Panchthar, November 8 — One person has died and two others have been injured in a truck accident in Panchthar.

The incident occurred today afternoon in Dhakal Gaun, Hilihang Rural Municipality-6, along the Mechi Highway.

The truck, with license plate Na4Kha 7123, suffered a brake failure and went off the road. As a result, 57-year-old Bhawanishankar Paudel from Hilihang-3, Panchthar, lost his life.

The truck driver, Tej Bahadur Das, from Suryaodaya Municipality-12 in Ilam, and the truck owner, Raj Kumar Basnet from Birtamod Municipality-1, Charpane, Jhapa, were injured in the crash.

They have been sent to Jhapa for further medical treatment.

According to Police Inspector Binalal Sah Teli of the Panchthar District Police Office, the truck, which was carrying wooden logs, fell approximately 50 meters down the road after the brake failure. The truck was en route to Phidim when the accident occurred.
