17 microfinance victims arrested

KATHMANDU, July 26: Police and Microfinance victims have skirmished during a protest in New Baneshwar. Police have arrested 17 people after they tried to break past the forbidden zone, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of the District Police Range, Anil Adhikari informed Ratopati.

The victims have been protesting by forming a 'Struggle Committee against Microfinance Institutions'. They have made 5 demands, including the abolition of microfinance institutions. The arrested persons have been kept at the city police office in Bhrikuti Mandap.
