Lalita Niwas case: Testimony taken from arrestees

KATHMANDU, July 26: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CIB) had arrested a total of 22 people including the operator of Bhatbhateni Super Market, Min Bahadur Gurung, in the case of misappropriating government land inside the "Lalita Niwas camp" in Baluwatar.

SSP Dinesh Acharya of the Central Bureau of Investigation informed Ratopati that the Bureau has taken the testimony of all the arrestees except two. 

"The testimony of all the arrested have been taken except for the two people who were arrested last", he told Ratopati. Two days ago, on July 24, Sanjay Maharjan and Sakulananda Maharjan were arrested from Kupandol.

The police have obtained permission from the Court to arrest all 406 people involved in the misappropriation of government land. 

The investigation conducted by the CIB revealed that 147 ropani of government were misappropriated with the help of the land mafia in the Lalita Niwas case.
