Chinese businessman Jack Ma arrives in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU, June 27: The founder of the Alibaba group has arrived in Kathmandu. The Chinese billionaire left Bangladesh and landed in Kathmandu through a Boeing 737 Chartered aircraft, Immigration Department Information Officer Khimraj Bhusal informed. Bhusal said that Jack Ma entered Nepal on a tourist visa. It is understood that he will conduct various high-level meetings during his stay in Nepal.

Born in a poor Chinese family, Jack Ma started his career as an English teacher. Before that, he was rejected by 30 employers, including KFC. Despite having no background in computing, Jack Ma birthed the online marketplace, Alibaba, in his apartment two decades ago by convincing some of his friends to invest in his online marketplace.

According to Forbes' 2017 list, Jack Ma became the third richest person in China. Alibaba raised $25 billion through the world's largest public offering in 2014.
