Fake Bhutanese refugee case: Case registered with 4 charges
KATHMANDU, May 24: The government attorney's office registered the fraud case of sending Nepalese to America as fake Bhutanese refugees in the District Court Kathmandu on Wednesday.
The case has been registered with 4 different charges, namely, fraud, corruption, organized and anti-state offense, and a fine of 27 Crores 21 Lakhs has been demanded. Before this, an eight-member committee of the government attorney's office had studied the report including the opinion of the police and prepared the action plan.
District Police Range Kathmandu, on Monday, submitted the investigation report of the swindling of millions from hundreds of citizens through temptations to send the citizens to America, to the government attorney's office.
16 people including Former Ministers, and a former government secretary have been arrested in the case and an opinion was given to prosecute 17 more people as defendants.
