NSP and Maoist Center to unite: Agreement between Baburam and Prachanda in Baluwatar

KATHMANDU,  Jan. 7: The Maoist Center and Dr. Baburam Bhattarai-led 'Nepal Samajwadi Party' (NSP) are going to form a party unity. The Chairman of the Maoist Center and the Chairman of NSP Bhattarai held a discussion for about 1 hour on Saturday at the Prime Minister's residence, Baluwatar, on the issue of party unification. NSP leader Ganga Shrestha informed Ratopati that there was a discussion between President Prachanda and Bhattarai about unifying the two parties. Leader Shrestha said - 'Party unity has been discussed between the two presidents. Similarly, the vote of confidence and other contemporary issues were discussed in the parliament.
Leader Shrestha said that it was agreed to propose party unity at the meeting of the Maoist Center officials on Saturday and to make a proposal at the meeting of the political committee of NSP on Sunday. He informed that both presidents want to unite the party soon. The position of Chairman Bhattarai in the post-unification party will be decided tomorrow when the parties unite.
According to leader Shrestha, although NSP has proposed what should be the name of the party after unity, it will be decided through discussion later and a working group can be formed for party unity. Similarly, youth leader Bishwadeep Pandey said that it has been agreed to discuss the issue of party unity with all parties influenced by Socialism. He informed that the two presidents had a positive talk about uniting the party. Leader Pandey said that even though the process of unification with other parties has not progressed, it is certain that NSP and Maoists will unite.
NSP President Baburam Bhattarai, and leaders Ganga Shrestha and Vishwadeep Pandey participated in the meeting with Prime Minister Prachanda in Baluwatar on Saturday. After the promulgation of the new constitution, Dr. Bhattarai left the Maoist center, held a meeting at Dashrath Rangshala on Jeth 30, 2073, and announced the Naya Shakti Party.
Samajwadi Party Nepal was formed on the 21st of Baisakh 2076 by the union between Sanghiya Samajwadi Forum led by Upendra Yadav and Naya Shakti Party led by Dr. Bhattarai. In Asar 2079, Bhattarai formed the Nepal Samajwadi Party after separating from Upendra Yadav.
