10 million votes counted under PR category

CPN (Unified Socialist) fails to cross the threshold.

KATHMANDU, Nov 30: Vote count under the proportional representation (PR) under the elections of the House of Representatives and the Province Assembly is currently underway. According to the Election Commission, as many as 10 million votes have already been counted under this category.

It has been maintained that a total of 10.1 million votes were casted under the PR category. In order to cross the threshold, the political parties must garner more than three percent of the total valid votes casted and must win at least one seat under the direct representation system, which the CPN (Unified Socialist) has failed.

So far the CPN (Unified Socialist) has got only 286,189 votes under the PR category.

According to the poll body, these are the parties crossing the threshold:

1) CPN-UML

2) Nepali Congress

3) CPN (Maoist Center)

4) Rastriya Swatantra Party

5) Rastriya Prajatantra Party

6) Janata Samajbadi Party

7) Janamat Party
