EC annuls registration of 41 political parties (with list)

KATHMANDU, Aug 3: The Election Commission (EC) has annulled the registration of 41 political parties. 

According to Raj Kumar Shrestha, spokesperson for the poll body, a meeting of the commission decided to scrap the registration of  those parties which failed to submit the account reports for the three consecutive years. He added that the decision will come into force from August 4 (Tuesday). 

No other political parties can use the name, flag and election symbol of those whose registration has been annulled for at least a year. 

With this the legitimate parties registered at the commission has been reduced to 95 from 136. 

Some of the parties which witnessed theri registration scrapped include Akhana Nepal, Shiv Sena Party, Nepali Congress Nationalist, Chure Bhawar, Federal Limbuwan and Kiran Khumbuwan among others.
