Units at local level to control human trafficking

Kathmandu - Minister for Women, Children and Social Welfare Aasha Koirala on Sunday informed that units would be set up at all local levels to check human trafficking. 

The unit will be tasked with controlling human trafficking in coordination with respective municipality or rural municipality, the Minister said while speaking at a programme organised in the Capital on the theme of anti-human trafficking. 

Terming human trafficking, rape, murder and abduction heinous crimes, she stressed the need for governmental or non-governmental organisations and the concerned agencies working against criminal activities to unite for ending such activities. 

Likewise, Secretary at the Ministry Khagraj Baral emphasised launching awareness campaign across the country. 

Tara Bhandari, Chairperson of 'Bishwas Nepal', an organisation working against human-trafficking rued the trend of letting the guilty of a criminal activity walk scot free under the protection of those in power.
