NC awakening drive sees resentment towards leadership

Urlabari–Nepali Congress cadres have vented ire at party leadership in the national awakening drive of the party at Urlabari of Morang on Sunday.

At the programme organized here by NC Urlabari municipal committee, the attendees expressed agitation towards leadership for party's feeble performance at federal and state elections and weak role in the parliament as the main opposition.

Former district member of the Nepali Congress, Radha Krishna Pokharel questioned party leader Krishna Prasad Sitaula over the 60-40 share within the party.

He said the NC would not emerge victorious in future elections until factions are operational within the party. Cadres at grassroots level are frustrated with the party leadership, he said, questioning how the party can gain strength in such situation. NC cadre Jayadharma Acharya of Urlabari-7 said there is no friendly relationship between leaders in the party.

Likewise, Tankanath Dahal lambasted party leadership for imposing unilateral decision in the distribution of tickets during elections so the party saw such a humiliating loss.

Nepal Women Association Morang Constituency-1 President Goma Nepal expressed worry over the erosion of relationship among the leaders within the party.

Som Prasad Timilsina said the time has come for the Nepali media to play the role of main opposition. Also speaking at the programme were Suresh Khadka, Suresh Rai, Narayan Prasd Acharya, Bhim Thapa, Indra Kumar Oli, Bimal Niraula, Janak Khadka and Geeta Khatiwada expressed anger at the leadership for operating factions and adopting unfair ticket distribution system.

At the programme, NC regional President and Urlabari Municipality Mayor Khadga Fago said the NC could not deliver its performing leadership. Leader Sitaula admitted party leadership mistake in selecting candidates during election times. ---
