In many cases of rape, perpetrators are relatives

 

Chitwan–The Chitwan police has said it has been successful in arresting perpetrators of almost all cases of rape reported to the police in the district. 
Growing cases of rape in the district instigated the prompt police response to the incidence and search for the accused. 

In past six and half months, 31 cases of rape were reported in the district and police succeeded in arresting 37 people on the charge of their involvement in such crimes. A case happened last month was reported to the police after two days and one, among two accused, managed to escape the arrest, Deputy Superintendent of Police Durgaraj Regmi said. Police has launched a manhunt for the alleged rapist. 

A total of 55 cases had been reported here last fiscal year and 66 people were detained in connection of their involvement in such incidents. This year, the highest number of the accused belongs to 16 to 40 age group. 
Perpetrators in most cases are not unfamiliar but relatives of the survivors. Of them, nine are within in the kinship of survivors, 21 are familiar to them and remaining two are outsiders.
