Ministry provides support for development of postal service: Minister Basnet

Kathmandu - Minister for Information and Communications Mohan Bahadur Basnet has said that the Ministry would extend support for the development of postal service.

At an inaugural session of the postal transport organised by General Post Office here today, Minister Basnet pointed out the need of making the GPO modern to make its service more effective and competitive.

He also expressed the view that all should be united for the constitution implementation and economic development of the country.

Joint-Secretary at the Ministry, Ram Chandra Dhakal stressed the need of equipping GPO technology to ensure smart service.

Similarly, Director General of the Postal Services Department Suresh Adhikari admitted that the Department has failed to provide effective service in lack of human resources.

According to the Department, postal supply service has been reached to some 35 districts.

Earlier, Minister Basnet had carried out an onsite visit of GPO.
