More tourists visit Khaptad

Doti– Khaptad National Park, one of the main touristic sites in the far-west area, has witnessed an upsurge in tourist arrival lately. Assistant Conservation Officer of the National Park, Prakash Bahadur Shah, said that more than 1000 tourists including 29 foreigners have arrived here during this fiscal year. 


According to the National Park, more visitors from neighbouring districts Bajura, Achham, Doti and Bajhang visit the national park for inspection and pleasure trips. Likewise, the officials said that Rs 200,000 plus was collected in revenue from the visitors so far in the current fiscal year. 


The internal tourists can visit the national park for free while the authorities charge Rs 3,390 per person to the external tourists. 


In their bids to boost up the tourism activities, the people at Baglek, the main entrance of Khaptad, are planning to begin the home stay service targeting the visitors. Chief of Hoteliers’ Association, Doti Dipak Bahadur Khakda shared that the home stay service would be started in 10 houses at Baglek with the joint investment of the rural municipality and hoteliers’.
